Neighborhood History
Tam O'Shanter-Sullivan is a Scarborough neighbourhood between Victoria Park Avenue and Kennedy Road, from Highway 401 north to Huntingwood Drive. Its name joins two places: the Tam O'Shanter Golf Course, east of Warden Avenue, and O'Sullivan's Corners at Victoria Park and Sheppard avenues, named for Patrick O'Sullivan, where a hotel and a post office opened in 1892. From 1927 to 1946 Harry C. Hatch kept a horse farm at the northeast corner of Pharmacy and Sheppard, raising five King's Plate winners, among them Monsweep and Uttermost.
Suburban growth began with the Town and Country subdivision, bounded by Victoria Park, Sheppard, Pharmacy and Highway 401, followed by Wishing Well Acres east of Pharmacy; in the 1960s the Hatch farm was redeveloped as Bridlewood, named for its covered racetrack. The golf course land was acquired by the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in 1973, redeveloped by Metro Toronto in 1980, and is run today as a municipal course. Agincourt Mall, Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute and the Agincourt library branch also lie within the neighbourhood. Scarborough became part of the amalgamated City of Toronto in 1998.
The Tam O'Shanter-Sullivan tee is for the neighbours between the old golf course and O'Sullivan's Corners.

Tam O'Shanter-Sullivan lies between Victoria Park Avenue and Kennedy Road, north of Highway 401. Before its suburbs were built, the area held a crossroads hotel, a golf course and the farm of one of Canada's leading thoroughbred breeders.
